Women's Tennis Wins 2019 Conference Carolinas Championship
SUMTER, S.C. - The Emmanuel College Women's tennis team captured the Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship with a 4-0 win over the University of Mount Olive on Sunday afternoon. The Lions entered the tournament as the #2 seed and dominated their competition to earn the Conference Carolinas Championship title in their first year of post season eligibility. 
 

Against Lees-McRae:

The Lions earned the doubles point with both doubles #2 and #3 making quick work of their opponents. Doubles #2 consisting of Pearllan Cipriano and Maria Raich defeated their opponent 6-2. Doubles #3 consisting of Katharina Kiderlen and Victoria Silva won their match 6-1. With two quick wins, doubles #3 consisting of Fantine Botella and Chloe O'Connor didn't get a chance to finish.

The Lions continued their dominant performance into singles play and had three quick sweeps to end the match with a 4-0 victory. Singles #3 Marta Rozados won by score of 6-3, 6-0. Singles #4 Maria Raich defeated her opponent 6-2, 6-0. Finally, Singles #5 Victoria Silva cruised to a quick 6-0, 6-0 win allowing the Lions the victory.
 
Against Erskine:
 
The Lions grabbed a quick lead when doubles #1 and #2 secured the doubles point. Doubles #1 consisting of Fantine Botella and Chloe O'Connor downed their opponent 6-4. Doubles #2 consisting of Maria Raich and Pearllan Cipriano won their set 6-1.
The Lions would follow up with three straight singles wins, cruising to a quick 4-0 victory. Singles #2 Pearllan Cipriano won her match 6-2, 7-5. Singles #4 Maria Raich earned another point for the Lions with a 6-0, 6-3 victory. Singles #6 Chloe O'Connor defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-1.
 
Against Mount Olive:
 
The Lions dominated with another 4-0 victory to claim the Conference Championship title over the University of Mount Olive. Emmanuel started ahead with doubles #1 consisting of Chloe O'Connor and Fantine Botella winning their match 6-3. Doubles #3 consisting of Katharina Kiderlen and Victoria Silva followed up with a 6-4 win to capture the doubles point.
In singles play the Lions won three straight matches to clinch the victory. Singles #1 Fantine Botella defeated her opponent 6-3, 6-2. Singles #5 Victoria Silva won her match 6-2, 6-0. Finally, singles #6 Chloe O'Connor clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win.
 
Senior Chloe O'Connor was named Tournament MVP while Senior Fantine Botella and Junior Maria Raich were both named to the All-Tournament Team. Botella was also named to the All-Conference Carolinas First Team, Senior Pearllan Cipriano was named to the All-Conference Carolinas Second Team, and Maria Raich was named to the All-Conference Carolinas Third Team.
