Women's Tennis Sweep Shorter, 7-0

ROME, Ga. — The Emmanuel College Women's team traveled to Shorter University on Wednesday afternoon. The Lions defeated the Hawks 7-0.

After a successful weekend for the Lady Lions against King University and Lees McRae College, the women's team was in a really positive mindset and defeated their opponent without any difficulties 7-0.

#2 doubles composed by Maria Raich and Pearllan Cipriano did not have any problem as they did not give a chance to their opponent to score and defeated them 6-0.

Doubles #1 composed by seniors Fantine Botella and Chloe O'Connor also dominated their opponent the whole match. Thanks to a lot of pouching from O'Connor and offensive forehands from Botella, the seniors won 6-1.

The last doubles to finish was the #3 composed by Katharina Kiderlen and Marta Rozados who struggled a little more than their teammates but still managed to defeat their opponents 6-3. 

After the doubles, the Lady Lions were now up 1-0. 

Playing #6 singles was the junior Victoria Silva who did not let her opponent impose her game style as she defeated the Hawk 6-1 6-0.

#1 singles was the senior Fantine Botella who thanks to a lot of smart choices and aggressive forehands dominated her opponent 6-2 6-1.

Singles #2 was played by the senior Pearllan Cipriano who won the first set easily by 6-2. The second set was a different scenario as Cipriano was down by 4-0 and decided to change her game. Thanks to a lot of smart volleys, Pearllan managed to come back and won 6 games in a row which led her to win 6-2 6-4.

#5 singles was the freshman Lauren Castillon who played a solid game from the beginning until the end. With a lot of aggressive backhands from the baseline, Castillon defeated her opponent 6-2 6-1.

Playing #4 singles was Maria Raich who played a really aggressive opponent. Thanks to a lot of smart decisions and a really good defensive game, Raich defeated her opponent 6-3 6-2.

Singles #3 was the freshman Marta Rozados who had two tight sets as both of the players were holding their serves. After breaking her opponent's serve in both sets, Rozados defeated her opponent 6-4 6-4.  

The Lady Lions finished the day with a 7-0 win against Shorter University. 

EC's Women's Tennis Team will be back on the road Thursday 28th to face Barton College Friday 29th.
