FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - The Emmanuel College women's basketball team was defeated by the University of North Georgia 73-51 on Friday night in their season opener.
The Lions found themselves leading at the end of the first quarter, but the Nighthawks began to pull away while increasing their field goal percentage to 53.1%. North Georgia excelled at the three-point line, knocking down 11 shots while EC struggled with just 1. After pulling ahead in the second quarter, the Nighthawks never looked back and cruised to a 73-51 victory.
Despite their loss, the Lions did win the turnover battle and converted 20 NGU turnovers into 14 points.
Leading all players was Junior Breanna Locke who scored 16 points.
The Lady Lions will continue action at home tomorrow (November 9th) against Young Harris at 6:00pm.
