Emmanuel Ladies Basketball Team Starts Off Strong

CENTRAL, S.C.---Our Ladies Basketball Team won both games this weekend in the FCA Women's Basketball Classic Tournament in Central SC. On Friday the Ladies defeated Morris College 96-64 in a superb overall team effort with five players scoring in double figures. Freshman point guard Addie Mcneely paced the team with 20 points followed by Sophmore Elise Coberly at 19 points and Freshman Avery Scarbrough with 18 points. Senior Skye Rogers had 10 rebounds. On Saturday the ladies squared off against Columbia International University and also came away successful with a 87-42 final score. The Ladies were paced in scoring by Elise Coberly with 16 points followed by Junior guard Alecia Fagin with 11 points and Senior Ashley Skelton had 10 points. Skye Rogers again led the team in rebounds with 9 total boards. Both Elise Coberly and Skye Rogers were also selected to the All Tournament Team on Saturday. In the two combined games this weekend the ladies averaged over ninety points per game while giving up right at fifty points per game. When asked about this weekends games Coach Bona stated, "We are very pleased with the efforts of our team in both games this weekend. It was our goal for the entire team to stay engaged in both games this weekend and we feel we accomplished that. I especially felt our team leadership did a great job of keeping everyone on task. The Ladies open up with their first home contest of the season against Converse University at 6pm this Thursday November 20th in the Shaw Athletic Center Arena on the beautiful campus of Emmanuel College.
