Men's Volleyball Drops Another Match on the Road

HARROGATE, TN. - The Emmanuel College Men's Volleyball Team lost another match on the road, this time to Lincoln Memorial University. In just three sets, the Railsplitters cruised to a 25-18, 26-24, 25-19 victory.

The Lions struggled to keep up in the first set, allowing the Railsplitters to go on several runs, including a 6 point run early on in the set to give them a 14-3 lead. Emmanuel would go on their own 6 point run that began with two consecutive errors from their opponent, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit.

In the second set the Lions had a much better performance. A kill from #11 Manuel Melenciano gave Emmanuel the lead at 14-13. The teams continued to battle it out before a tied game at 24-24. Two plays later, an attack error from the Lions would give Lincoln Memorial the second set 26-24.

In the third and final set the Railsplitters started off with a 4 point run. While #1 Aleksa Lakic would deliver several kills for the Lions, Lincoln Memorial continued to get the edge and outscore Emmanuel. After an impressive hitting percentage of .600, the Railsplitters took the final set 25-19.

#6 Don Thompson led the Lions with 11 kills and 2 block assists. #14 Alejandro Robles followed close behind with 10 kills of his own.

Next up for the Lions will be Conference Opponent Belmont Abbey at the Shaw Athletic Center on Saturday, Feb. 10th. The first serve is set for 12:00pm.
