EC Men's Tennis earns Conference Win over Bobcats!

Banner Elk, NC - The Emmanuel College Men's Tennis Team traveled to home of the Lees McRae Bobcats today for another Conference Carolinas event.

With only two conferences matches remaining this season, the Lions team is decided to finish the season the best way possible, and that motivation was crystal clear today!

The Jarry / Johansen duo waited the right moment to get the break on court #1 before cruising for the win. With solid performances on the serve, even under some pressure, the freshman team never hesitated to earn an 8-4 victory. The second point came from court #3 with Pereira / Canadas who had to fight for eight games at the beginning of the match with several chances missed, but finally finding their way around the court to get an 8-5 win. Last but not least, on court #2, Romero / Alcacer were playing a different story with several ups and downs and in a match full of possibilities from both sides that was only decided in a tiebreaker won by the Lions, 8-7.

The 3-0 lead was the extra boost Emmanuel needed to take off in singles play. On court #5, Jorge Canadas used the momentum he earned at the end of doubles to secure a solid 6-1 6-3 win. The sophomore Juan Carlos Romero battled a lot, but after a few key mistakes from his foe, Romero finally clinched the overall event for EC with a 7-5 7-6 win. Emmanuel did not stop there and grabbed 3 extra wins today. First, the senior Lucas Pereira, who dropped the first set but found a second wind after taking a 3-0 lead in the second, to go the distance and take down his opponent by 3-6 6-3 7-5 on court #3. Right next to Pereira, Lucas Sasaki was doing everything well in the first set but he saw his opponent increasing his level, but Sasaki was able to hit the brakes and get a seventh point for the visiting Lions by 6-0 6-4. Lastly, the Junior Enrique Alcacer never found any issues by being too solid from the back of the line, completing a great day for EC with an 8-1 victory.

Emmanuel Tennis will be back in action on the road again tomorrow for the last conference match of the season when they will face the King University Tornado! First serve is scheduled for 11AM!
