CENTRAL, S.C. - The Emmanuel College men's soccer team defeated conference opponent Southern Wesleyan University, 3-2 on Wednesday night. This win brings the Lions record to 7-1-1 overall, 4-0-1 in conference.
Senior Channing Park had a strong start for the Lions, scoring first in the 14th minute, then following up just 3 minutes later to propel the Lions to a 2-0 lead. Freshman Kevin Fitzgerald had the assist for the first goal. Southern Wesleyan would not be silenced as they responded at the end of the half with a goal from Cale McLarnon. The Lions led 2-1.
The Warriors struck back early in the second half with a goal from Noah Sims. With 40 minutes left to play, the score was tied 2-2.
Finally, in the 80th minute of play, Emmanuel's Christopher Ramos would find the net off of an assist from Cian Walder. Ramos' first career goal gave the Lions the 3-2 victory.
Next up, the Lions return home for a conference match against North Greenville University on Saturday, October 12th.
