WEST PALM BEACH, Fl. – The Emmanuel College men's lacrosse team dropped a road contest to Palm Beach Atlantic 22-13.
It was a strong start for the Lions as they capitalized on early offense to go up 4-2 in the opening quarter. Shamaz Durrant was the first to score as he tip-toed the crease to get it past the goalie. A three-minute scoring drought would end as Lance Olson collected on a fast break opportunity. The Sailfish scored a man-up goal to even the score out 2-2 with under three to play in the first. Allan Velasquez stuck one low corner and Durrant would claim his second to close the quarter up 4-2.
A pair from PBA would even the score once again leveling out at 4-4. Durrant completed his hat trick with 5:20 left in the half giving the Lions the edge, 5-4. The Sailfish would gain two more on man-up opportunities taking the lead over EC. Velasquez moved the ball to Alex Stull for the equalizer, but PBA was able to gain one last goal in the final minute of the half going into the break up 7-6.
The teams would battle back-and-forth throughout the third, but a late three goal run would give the Sailfish the edge 15-11. Matthew Mitchell scored his first, Durrant collected his fourth, and Stull scored three in the third quarter alone.
To start the fourth quarter, the Sailfish scored six straight to go up 21-11. Mitchell and Stull would each score late but PBA had too large of a lead. The Lions fell to the Sailfish 22-13 in their final contest of spring break.
