FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga - Men's basketball took on the Southern Wesleyan Warriors on Wednesday night. The Warriors defeated the Lions, 90-65. The loss moves Emmanuel's record to 13-10 overall and 10-5 in conference.
It was an extremely physical match, both teams were in the bonus 10 minutes into the game. The Warriors took control from the onset, building a double digit lead over the first fifteen minutes of the game. The Lions managed to sink a couple three pointers before halftime, pulling within four, 31-27.
In the second half, the aggression intensified. Both teams were in the bonus with seven team fouls each after only seven minutes of play. The Lions were unable to match the pace of the Warriors, who quickly increased their lead to double digits. The Lions never put up a response, eventually losing the game 90-65.
The physical showdown ended with a total of 52 personal fouls between the teams, 27 of which were against the Lions.
The Warriors outshot the Lions in every shooting category, going 54.9% from the field, 41.2% from three point territory, and 79.4% from the free throw line. The Lions shot 32.2%, 27.3%, and 72% respectively. The Lions were also significantly out-rebounded with 23, while the Warriors had 48.
EC was led by freshman Kelvin Jones with 19 points. Junior Tyonn Stuckey followed with 18.
Next up, men's basketball will travel to Chowan University on Saturday, February 8th.
