Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel College Women's Tennis Team came back to the courts 24 hours after their last match to host the Lees McRae Bobcats this Saturday Afternoon.
Just like on Friday evening, the EC Women's Tennis Team clinched quick wins in doubles matches to start the day with a comfortable 3-0 lead. The first point of the dual came from court #3, Cipriano/Silva by 8-0. Not too long after, on court #1, Botella/O'Connor earned a break at 2-2 and another one at 5-2 to earn the second point of the day by 8-4. The third possible point in doubles was then earned by the home team on court #2, Kiderlen/Raich, by 8-3.
The early lead at the start of the singles play, Emmanuel again only needed two extra wins to have the match. Emmanuel earned the fourth point with Katharina Kiderlen on court #5 by a solid 6-1 6-0. Maria Raich followed with a quick win on court #3 by 6-1 6-1. The Junior Abi Muesse also wasted no time on court with a 8-1 win. Next, the sophomore Pearllan Cipriano took care of business with a very consistent game from the baseline to grab a 8-1 win. Victoria Silva also did not spend too much time on the court and clinched her match by moving the opponent around the court to earn a 8-0win. Lastly, on court #1, the sophomore Fantine Botella had to work a bit more. After winning the first set by 6-3, Botella had to fight her way back after she dropped her serve to have a 5-3 deficit on the second set. Fantine worked hard and played a more consistent game to break her opponent and tied the match at 5-5. After a tighter service game, full of chances for both sides, Fantine finally held her serve to have a 6-5 at the changeover and then to clinch the match by 6-3 7-5.
This was the final home conference match for the Emmanuel Women's Tennis Team this season. Emmanuel will be back on the road this coming Wednesday to face a NCAA Regional opponent, Young Harris. First Serve is scheduled for 2PM!
