Logue’s Overtime Goal Leads Lions to Victory over Erskine

DUE WEST, S.C. - Tuesday night's match saw the Lions face off against the Erskine Flying Fleet in one of their final regular season conference matches. While both teams exhibited very similar performances, it was the Lions who came out on top with a 2-1 overtime victory.

The match remained scoreless through the entire first half and most of the second. With under five minutes remaining, Erskine's Brittiney Gardner fired a crossed ball into the upper right corner of the net. The match didn't look good for the Lions as the clock continued to tick down into the final minutes.

Then suddenly, with just over three minutes remaining, Freshman Moriah Logue headed a ball to Sophomore Hannah Logue, who then played the ball ahead to Sophomore Lindsay Lee. Lee proceeded to score, tying the match at 1-1 and forcing the game into overtime.

Four minutes into overtime, Hannah Logue would have a fast break before shooting the game winning goal.

Senior Hannah Welch tallied 6 saves on their way to a 2-1 victory.

The Lions will continue regular season play with one more conference game against Lees-McRae on Thursday, October 25th in Banner Elk, NC.
