Women's Soccer Narrowly Defeated by Limestone College

GAFFNEY, S.C. - Women's soccer took on Limestone College on Saturday afternoon. Against the #1 Conference Carolinas ranked team, the Lions were narrowly defeated 4-3.

Limestone was the first to get on the board at just over four minutes into the game when Danielle Murray blasted a shot off the cross bar into the net.

At 16:15, Sophomore Lindsay Lee took advantage of a free kick and scored her 8th goal of the season to tie up the match.

Just over a minute later, Limestone's Sofia Lundkvist shot an incoming corner kick into the top left corner of the net.

In the second half, Limestone would extend their lead with a goal from Megan O'Connor.

Emmanuel retuned with Lindsay Lee's second goal of the night, beating the keeper off a long pass from Cynthia Gonzalez.

Limestone's O'Connor then had her second gaol of the night after being fed from the right side to the top of the box and finishing in the top left corner.

With ten second remaining in the game, Senior Kayla Brown blasted a shot past the right side of the keeper with an assist from Lee to bring the score to 4-3.

The time would expire before the Lions had a chance to tie up the match, giving Limestone the hard earned victory.

Senior Hannah Welch tallied 15 saves for a new season high.

The Lions will continue action on Tuesday, October 16th when they take on Belmont Abbey College at home at 7:00pm.
