This week's recognized athletes are Wyatt Nicholson of Men's Swimming & Chelsea Lein of Women's Bowling. Their outstanding performance while representing Emmanuel College this past week has proved that both of these athletes possess the qualities to among the best in the nation.
Wyatt Nicholson is a senior from Clarkesville, GA, who is working on obtaining a degree in Kinesiology. Wyatt is a captain of the men's swimming team, and an outstanding athlete at Emmanuel College. During his last collegiate race for EC, Nicholson was the top EC finisher at the 2016 Triathlon Collegiate National Championships on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Clemson University. EC competed in the Olympic Distance Triathlon Event (1.5K swim, 40K bike, 10K run). There were 1,235 competitors in the Olympic distance event, from 129 collegiate teams around the United States. Wyatt finished 277th overall with a time of 2 hours 28 minutes and 52 seconds.
Chelsea Lein is a sophomore from Creswell, OR. Chelsea is a lefty, which makes her a great bowler who is able to handle some very tough shots. Last week Lein was able to step into the anchor for the first time at the Team National Champiosnhips. Using her skills, Chelsea led the team to the 3rd highest score ever recorded in the 24 game qualifier of the opening round of the championships. This great performance by Chelsea Lein helped her team perform up to highest standards during the Team National Championships.
